Great Western Alfa Day 2006

This year our premier summer event in the South West was held beside the STEAM museum of the Great Western Railway in Swindon, flanked by the buildings which once housed the main workshops of 'God's Wonderful Railway.' What better way was there to celebrate the 200th anniversary of I. K. Brunel's birth than to feel that magnificent engineer's real estate rumble to the sounds of modern, thoroughbred horsepower?

Enthusiasts in their hundreds streamed in from all over the south and west of England, Wales and even further a field. They were joined by scores of shoppers from the adjacent 'designer' shopping complex and visiting steam buffs, all eager to enjoy the event as the 90 classic cars -ancient and modern- gleamed seductively in the late summer sunshine.
